Constructor

1991-1992 System 3

Platforms: Commodore Amiga, Atari ST and PC

Many of you will be aware of Constructor, the classic construction yard game developed by System 3 and released by Acclaim in 1997. Released on PC, and then later PlayStation and other platforms.

However, the game’s roots started way back in 1991 when it was originally planned as a Commodore Amiga, Atari ST and PC release with a very different look and feel. Some early screenshots were shown in various magazines of the time, including The One issue 28 and the Italian edition of The Games Machine issue 43.

More snippets of information would sneak out over time about the game, but it would hit various delays and eventually be shelved to focus on other titles such as Putty. Below are some screenshots from the game and the press information shown. We hope to add more to the page over time. If you know anything more, please do get in touch!

Thanks to Ross Sillifant for sending through the scans from archive.org and also Stephen Stuttard for the hi-res The One scans.
