Skitchin’

1994 Ocean Software

Platforms: Commodore Amiga 500, 600 and 1200

Yet another Ocean Software title goes into the GTW archive, and this time a conversion of Electronic Arts’ Skitchin’, which had been released on the SEGA Megadrive the same year, and was a sort of Road Rash on skates.

Ocean had been converting a number of Electronic Arts titles already, so this was just another in a line of titles being done at the time for the Amiga.

Unfortunately, apart from an advert – there were no screenshots shown of any conversion. A large preview in Amiga Action just showed screens from the Mega Drive edition. As a result, it isn’t clear if a conversion was ever started or not.

Considering an advert was shown, then we’d hope that there was something – and it would be great to find a conversion of some kind. How well would it fare against the Megadrive edition?

One possibility is that the same developer as Road Rash on the Amiga (Pete J. Hickinson) may have been involved. Perhaps even using the same engine that was developed? That conversion came out pretty well, so it would make sense.

If you know anything more about this conversion, then please do get in touch.

With thanks to Mark @mrak@mastodon.org.uk for the suggestion to cover, Stephen Stuttard for the hi-res scans and archive.org for the rest of the scans.
